Winneba is the capital of the Effutu Municipality in the Central Region of Ghana. The municipality has a population of 169,972, representing 10.7% of Central Region's population.
Health Status - The Trauma & Specialist HospitalThe Trauma & Specialist Hospital is a newly built state-of-the-art secondary referral hospital for the Efutu-Ewutu catchment area in Winneba. It has the functional mandate of a regional hospital. It was funded by the government of Ghana, with grant support from the Netherlands Kingdom and a loan agreement from a consortium of banks.
As a newly constructed hospital, with four specialists, and two medical officers attached, it is a general hospital primarily focused on trauma due to its citing on the trans-ECOWAS high way. The hospital is strategically positioned and equipped to handle accident related cases.
